Daily news hour, Democracy Now!, seeks full-time Chief Broadcast Engineer to manage audio and video technical operations for a fast paced live TV/Radio/Internet show.
Responsibilities:
* Operate and maintain HD studio and control room, including master control, interconnects, ingest, newsroom automation, post-production, broadcast IT, intercom and aspects of physical plant.
* Oversee all technical aspects of the one-hour daily broadcast including fiber inbound and outbound transmissions, tape and server records and troubleshooting problems that arise.
* Monitor and assure signal quality.
* Manage technical staff.
* Design, procure and implement new A/V and broadcast IT systems as needed.
* Provide engineering support to production team and key broadcast affiliates as needed.
* Fill in production positions as needed.
* Manage inventory, service contracts and vendor relations.
* Maintain comprehensive documentation and disaster recovery strategy.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Must be able to troubleshoot and repair electronics at the component level. Read, interpret and update station drawings, flow charts and cable run lists. CAD knowledge preferred. Must have an intimate knowledge of radio frequency, baseband, optical and MPEG transport, various scopes essential to the maintenance and repair of electronic equipment including oscilloscopes, waveform/vector scope, spectrum analyzers and multimeters. Familiarity of TCP/IP/SNMP Network topologies, VLANS and Cisco switches, routers, firewalls and VPN concentrator preferred. This position is responsible for facilitating the rapid development, prototyping and debugging of firmware for our client's broadcast division products. This effort involves hands-on embedded code development of microcontroller applications.
Additional responsibilities include code architecture definition, revision control and bug tracking. Although the main goal of this position is firmware for integration into on-chip memory, other code includes supplemental host-based code. The creation and review of documentation are additional key responsibilities. Contributions to product definition and development methodology are also required.
Familiarity with AUDIO processing is highly desirable.
