The Host needs to be able to absorb significant amounts of background research quickly for the daily demands of a news-based program, and demonstrate a lively interest in diverse areas from hard news, to the arts, lifestyle and history topics. Duties and Responsibilities: As listed in Matching Job Requirements Knowledge/Skills and Abilities: This position will be evaluated based on demonstrating the following knowledge, skills & abilities in carrying out the duties assigned: As listed in Matching Job Requirements Minimum: • 3-5 years experience as a working journalist, 2 years broadcast experience in radio or television • Articulate, engaging and authoritative on-air presence • Undergraduate degree in journalism or closely related field. • Strong on-air hosting and interviewing skills, superior verbal agility, engaging and seasoned on air presence • Standard computer competencies with office and productivity software Desirable: • In-depth knowledge of Southern Nevada issues, politics, economics and culture. • Digital audio production skills, online media/web production skills, newsroom management experience • Masters level education or equivalent professional experience This position Reports to: Executive Producer of KNPR’s State of Nevada This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.
