Position Overview:

The Senior Digital Producer is a newsroom leader responsible for driving day-to-day digital coverage, ensuring that our journalism is delivered with speed, accuracy, and creativity across platforms. This role combines strong editorial judgment, innovative storytelling skills, and the ability to coach and collaborate with colleagues across the newsroom.

The ideal candidate is an empathetic leader and thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces breaking news, and has a proven track record of engaging audiences through compelling digital content.

Key Responsibilities:

•Oversee, write, edit, and publish content across all digital platforms (website, app, social media, streaming, push alerts).

•Make editorial decisions on breaking news, developing stories, and enterprise coverage in coordination with newsroom leadership.

•Craft compelling headlines, teases, and visuals that drive audience engagement while maintaining accuracy and credibility.

•Coach and mentor digital producers, reporters, anchors, and photographers on best practices in digital storytelling.

•Lead newsroom digital planning and contribute to multi-platform coverage strategies.

•Utilize analytics and audience insights to guide content decisions and improve performance.

•Collaborate with broadcast producers, reporters, and managers to ensure content is optimized for all platforms.

•Innovate new ways to tell stories digitally, including live blogs, explainers, interactive elements, and video strategies.

•Ensure content adheres to ethical standards, copyright guidelines, and station brand voice.

Qualifications:

•Minimum 3-5 years of digital producing or related newsroom experience (local TV, digital news, or major media outlet preferred).

•Strong writing and copy-editing skills with an eye for accuracy, detail, and SEO.

•Demonstrated experience managing breaking news in a fast-paced environment.

•Proficiency with CMS, social media platforms, live blogs, and publishing tools.

•Familiarity with analytics platforms (e.g., Chartbeat, Google Analytics, CrowdTangle) and a data-driven mindset.

•Strong collaboration skills and ability to lead and mentor others.

•Video editing skills and knowledge of AP style a plus.
