Job Summary: Summary of Position:
As part of KOBI's Engineering team, the IT/Broadcast Engineer Project Manager leads the IT Department, managing compute and network infrastructure critical to a multi-property broadcast production environment. This role ensures IT systems effectively support the broader engineering strategy of the station. It requires a mix of technical knowledge and leadership, including team oversight, network and system support, and integration of IT with broadcast technology.
Essential Functions:
Design and support IT infrastructure including firewalls, Wi-Fi, VPNs, and security
Manage IT vendor relationships and coordinate logistics as needed
Supervise and mentor IT staff
Provide user support, training, and resolve technical issues
Integrate IT systems with broadcast/media technologies and external networks
Support Ethernet over microwave and spread spectrum systems
Oversee lifecycle planning for compute and network environments
Maintain documentation including run-books, diagrams, and design plans
Perform/oversee maintenance tasks: backups, OS/software updates, user setup, etc.
Maintain MCR (Master Control Room) and production equipment
Diagnose, repair, and install broadcast systems using standard industry techniques
Perform regular preventative maintenance on studio/MCR equipment
Respond to viewer complaints and staff support requests in a timely, professional manner
Maintain records of purchases, service logs, and receipts
Attend weekly Engineering meetings and contribute to procedural improvements
Remain on-call as needed for technical issues
Monitor transmitters, remote sites, and on-air signals daily
Install and configure IT systems: servers, user machines, switchports, etc.
Maintain microwave and remote transmission equipment
Perform transmitter maintenance (e.g., adjusting exciters, power levels)
Assist Director of Engineering with other technical duties as assigned
Additional Duties:
Assist with departmental tasks and cross-functional support as needed
Adapt to dynamic operational needs with flexibility and initiative
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
At least five years of IT-related work experience
Solid understanding of network/compute systems (Windows, Linux, Mac, BYOD)
Experience with Cisco, Artista, Fortinet technologies
Basic knowledge of audio/video production and broadcast systems
