Technician (Part-Time, Temporary)

WDIV Local 4, the NBC affiliate television station in Detroit, is seeking a part-time Broadcast Technician to join our Engineering Department. Owned by Graham Media Group, WDIV boasts the most-watched newscasts at 4 PM, 5 PM, 6 PM, and 11 PM in the Detroit market (DMA #14). Our website, ClickOnDetroit.com, is the leading source for news and weather in metro Detroit.

This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement and is represented by the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians Communications Workers of America (NABET).

• Provide technical and operational support for studio control rooms during live, pre-taped, and special news broadcasts.
• Work in conjunction with master control hub to ensure clean operations of all our broadcast services.
• Monitor/remote control over the air transmitter via telemetry systems.
• Operate effectively in a high-pressure environment, particularly during breaking news situations, while navigating various technical constraints.
• Set up, troubleshoot and operate production equipment related to control room automation, including video switching, audio consoles, microphones, intercom/IFB, robotic cameras, and Production Control Room (PCR) Automation.
• Edit video and audio via NLE software and Cloud platforms.

• Preferred candidates should have 2-4 years of experience in television broadcast operations. Including master control operations, production, or engineering/maintenance.
• We are a 24/7/365 operation. Candidates must be available to work weekends, holidays, early morning, & late-night shifts.
• Proficient computer skills and the ability to adhere to deadlines are crucial.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Occasional tasks include lifting equipment, climbing a ladder and working in various weather conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.
