Announcement Information Job Summary:
Concert Sound is a client service department on the Oberlin campus. We provide audio, lighting, and staging for various on-campus departments, organizations, and outside clients who use our facilities. We service over 450 events annually, including concerts of multiple genres, lectures, panel discussions, receptions, dinners, weddings, meetings, and sporting events. The events occur in many venues across the college, indoors and out. We have a nightclub that presents rock, punk, and hip-hop shows, a coffeehouse that offers folk and world music, jazz, rock, rap, and the occasional theatrical performance, and several larger venues for our bigger shows. We provide all audio equipment and personnel for these events. There are two full-time staff members and about eighteen student technicians to staff the productions.

The Concert Sound Technician will serve the community as part of a team that provides sound reinforcement for campus programs.

Responsibilities:
Provide sound reinforcement for multiple campus events and venues including Dionysus Club (aka the Sco), Finney Chapel and Cat in the Cream Coffeehouse.
Set-up and assist in running varying PA setups.
Report to audio professionals on staff.

Qualifications:
Employees must have a flexible schedule, including willingness to work nights and weekends. Some shifts can be up to 8-10 hours long.
Able to lift 40 pounds unassisted.
Willing to work with individuals of differing ages, backgrounds, and temperament.
Able to follow directions and communicate clearly.
Able to stand and remain attentive for long hours.
Must be punctual and maintain professionalism in highly stressful situations.
Must attend weekly scheduling meetings TBD .

Special Instructions to Applicants:
You must be an enrolled student at Oberlin College & Conservatory to qualify.
Fall applicants must be available to return to campus early, on Monday, August 17, 2026 for four days of intensive pre-semester training and to work events during Orientation week. There will be a mandatory all-staff meeting before classes begin. Review of applications will begin after January 20, 2026 to allow for some spring hires. Some candidates may also be hired with a Fall 26 start date.
