Job Summary/Description:
WCTV is searching for the next Digital Content Producer to join our award-winning team. The ideal candidate is a driven and dedicated journalist with strong writing skills and news judgment. They will uphold the highest standards with their storytelling and aim for excellence every day. The Digital Content Producer will write articles, create content for our social media platforms, track engagement, and help us build up ''WCTV Now,'' which is a digital news desk that we use for live streaming. The right candidate will be given coaching and opportunities to present content on our streaming platforms and traditional broadcasts.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Demonstrate excellent writing, copy-editing, and storytelling skills
- Write accurate, compelling, and engaging articles under tight deadlines
- Use AP Style on a daily basis at an expert level
- Break news with accurate and timely push notifications through our apps
- Craft thoughtful and eye-catching text, photo, and video posts for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Threads
- Scout story ideas through viewer calls, emails, or direct messages
- Pitch and cultivate creative ideas to increase web traffic and audience engagement
- Collaborate and communicate with reporters, other digital team members, producers, anchors, and managers to gather content for online and on-air
-Interest in presenting content on our streaming platforms and/or broadcasts
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in journalism
- At least one internship in a commercial newsroom
- Working knowledge of web and social platforms
- Excellent knowledge of AP Style
- A desire to grow in a newsroom
