CJSF 90.1FM is the campus/community radio station located at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby British Columbia. CJSF broadcasts to the greater Vancouver area on 90.1FM and on the internet at
This position (Multimedia/Radio Producer) will research, write, and produce content in a variety of formats focused on issues of Environmental conservation, climate change, and other related topics, including indigenous and other intersectional perspectives when possible. The youth will work closely with the Community Outreach and Engagement assistant to promote the radio station across various platforms including, on-air, social media, community events & outreach. The youth will use video, graphics, audio and social media to promote and communicate content and programming initiatives. This position will require significant evening and weekend work out in the community
Responsibilities:
Work independently and collaborate with others to produce multimedia content for radio, web, social media and other publishing
Work closely with the Community Outreach & Engagement assistant to promote and represent CJSF and it content offerings to the community at events and community gatherings, on social media and on the radio
Use hardware equipment (Microphones, Mixing Boards, Radio Studios, Portable Recording Devices, etc) and software (Digital Audio Workstations, Audio converters, etc) to record, engineer, edit and produce audio content for radio and podcasting
Use hardware equipment (Cameras, lights, etc) and Graphic Editing Software (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) to produce, edit & modify graphic content for social media, web, and print publication
Use hardware equipment (camera, tripods, lights, video mixers, sound equipment) and Video Editing/Production Software (DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premier, Adobe AfterEffects etc) to record, engineer, edit and produce video content for social media and web publication
Use GSuite and Microsoft Office for scripting, communication, and administrative tasks
Promote content via various social media platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, X, BlueSky, TikTok, YouTube, and others as deemed appropriate
Communicate and engage with community members, organizations and groups to source story & content ideas, from initial contact to scheduling to execution of content production
Generate story and content ideas alone and in collaboration with staff and other station members
Other tasks related to content production and promotion as assigned by supervisor(s)
Qualifications:
Self-motivated, enthusiastic, reliable with a strong work ethic
Strong research and organizational skills
Knowledge of community resources and organizations
Ability to work in a dynamic, hectic environment with a minimum of supervision
Experience working for non-profit, community organizations an asset
A valid drivers license will be an asset.
Community radio experience and/or video experience an asset, but not necessary
Terms:
35 hours a week -- 8 weeks $21.25/hour
Position starts beginning of July
