Clinical Lecturer-Lighting Supervisor, School of Theatre The School of Theatre in the College of Arts and Architecture at the Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Lighting Supervisor at the clinical lecturer level. This is a non-tenure line, 9-month position. The Penn State School of Theatre is home to BFA degrees in Theatre Design and Technology (with options in all design disciplines), Stage Management, Musical Theatre, and Acting; a BA in Theatre; and an MFA in Theatre (with Scenic Design, Costume Design, Costume Technology, Music Direction and Musical Theatre Directing emphases). Candidates should possess either an MFA or an undergraduate degree with significant professional experience. The ideal candidate will have ETCP certification. This position requires a working knowledge of all aspects of theatrical lighting technologies including experience with a variety of luminaires, dimming and power distributions systems, control systems, LED technologies, and related electrical theory and practical skill. The ideal candidate should be prepared to implement and enforce safety protocols including Aerial Lifts/Ladders, fall protection, fall prevention, and regular inspection of safety and rigging equipment to ensure a safe working environment for all. start date is August 1, 2025. Duties include: Supervise stage lighting production, including lighting hang, focus, work notes and lighting strike. Supervise lighting shops and storage locations. Supervise student lighting designers, production electricians, board operators, follow spot operators and deck electricians. Maintain all lighting equipment and infrastructures for three theatres and rehearsal venues. Familiarity with Paradigm systems is a plus. Facilitate stage lighting purchasing for production and capital infrastructure. Attend pre-production and production meetings. Organize and administer the lighting department, including the creation and implementation of a calendar, follow-through on production deadlines, scheduling and coordinating staff, and coordinating and supervising the preparation and installation of all lighting and electrical elements for each production. Maintain drawings and paperwork for repertory light plots. Teach two courses each year in Stage Lighting Technology Enforce safe work practices ensuring a safe working environment. Participate in recruitment activities, faculty meetings and committee assignments.
