Audio Technician Jobs in New Jersey
An Audio Technician in the broadcasting industry is responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining the electronic equipment used to capture, edit and transmit audio in a broadcasting company. They ensure the sound quality in productions such as radio, television, concerts, or film is of the highest quality. They use complex audio mixer boards and editing software, and may record, synchronize, mix, or reproduce music, voices, or sound effects. They also identify and resolve sound-related issues that could interfere with the sound quality or interrupt a production.
Important skills for an Audio Technician include strong communication, problem-solving, and technical skills. They should have a good understanding of acoustics and the ability to manually set up and dismantle audio equipment. Experience with audio editing software is essential. An Audio Technician typically needs a degree in audio production, broadcasting, or a related field, and some positions may require certification from an organization such as the Society of Broadcast Engineers. Prior roles that a person may hold before becoming an Audio Technician include Audio Assistant, Sound Editor, or Broadcast Assistant.
